When a Negative can truly be a Positive for your Health & Wellbeing!

Firstly, if you haven’t already heard – Pink Himalayan Salt Bricks do not produce a significant amount of negative ions to positively impact your health, however Halotherapy does!

Sorry to bust the myth. Don’t give up on your salt lamp just yet….

How does Halotherapy produce Negative Ions??

Well, the formation of negative Air ions occurs when electrons from an atom are released into the air and attach themselves to molecules of oxygen and nitrogen. The electron carries a negative charge. The addition of an electron to a molecule of air forms a negative air ion.

Negative Ions can help with the following:

  • Stress & Anxiety

  • Insomnia & sleep

  • Headaches

  • Lethargy

  • Depression

Negative ions can also increase levels of energy, mental alertness and overall sense of well-being.

In today’s world we have an excess of positive ions and nowhere near enough negative ions. Electromagnetic radiation is everywhere, especially with us spending more time in front of screens, computers, phones etc.

Many natural therapy experts state there are many wellness benefits to be gained from exposure to negative ions. Halotherapy is one of these wellness areas.

Negative ions are generally created naturally - near mountains, beaches, waterfalls, during a thunderstorm and even in your shower. When water molecules collide, the water becomes positively charged with the surrounding air, becoming negatively charged.

Negative ions can also be artificially created by halogenerators.

When you breathe in air that’s full of negative ions during a halotherapy session, stress levels are reduced and the level of serotonin increases. Negative ions also increase oxygen flow to the brain, which is why you may feel more alert, and energised after a halotherapy session (another reason could be that you have also had a nice little power nap in there because you are so relaxed).

This salty environment also helps allergy sufferers by protecting against germs and particles in the air, helping to relieve breathing irritations as well as many other conditions.

The effects of negative ions on the human body and the environment have been reported in medical studies since the early 1900’s. Halotherapy is good for you even if nothing ails you!

Decades of research shows that treatment with negative ions (aka Halotherapy) may help with:

  • Asthma

  • Chronic Bronchitis

  • Sinusitis

  • Snoring

  • COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)

  • Cystic Fibrosis

  • Allergic Rhinopathy or Hay Fever

  • Ear Infections

  • Various acute or chronic respiratory diseases

  • Smoker’s cough

So whether you miss the seaside, are struggling to sleep, feel anxious, have a respiratory condition or just want an opportunity to relax and recharge (with negative ions), Halotherapy is certainly worth an investment.

Many countries across the globe are already embracing the benefits of Halotherapy, from luxury spas to gyms, workplaces, stand-alone salt facilities and homes (yes I have a salt room)!

Let’s not ignore that we need to take responsibility for our own Health & Wellness. We need to be looking for preventative options to do this and not just band aids to fix us when we are broken.

Oh, and if you do have a salt lamp, keep using it, they do help provide a lovely glow encouraging relaxation, can help boost your mood, have EMR blocking effects and obviously look nice (yes I have some of these too).
